FREE TECHNIQUES TO REDUCE STRESS IMMEDIATELY

You Gotta Start Romanticizing Your Life

This was our most popular instagram post @the.sattva.life this month. It also pissed a lot of people off! Some were offended by the suggestion that their morning commute could be experienced as ‘cute and fun’. Fair enough, it could be considered a stretch if your commute is arduous and you’re heading to a job you loathe.

So let’s unpack it. Instead of getting stuck on the specifics (e.g. the commute), we can focus on the invitation; to explore how we are showing up in our lives.

Contemplation guides:

Are we looking for beauty or are we looking out for what’s wrong?
Are we paying attention or do we feel a numb/indifferent?
If we truly dislike our commute/job have we considered what other options there are for us?
Is it really the job/commute we dislike, or is it how we are feeling on the inside – stress, overwhelm, anxiety, disconnect? Remembering that we can only experience life as ‘we are’ – so within, so without.
Do we believe in our power to create a more beautiful experience of life – a life that we love, a life we’re proud of? (including our work).

To experience the richness & endless possibilities of our life, we must actively cultivate our capacity to appreciate what is. To have a willingness to find the beauty ever-present, even in the most mundane of moments.

This quote is pointing us towards the inner happiness that arises when we bring the heart online. It’s not spiritual by-passing or hippie fluff if we’re willing to take a good look at our belief system that is guiding us and make the corrections necessary.

Gratitude, appreciation & gratefulness are the doorway to experiencing the sacred/beauty/grace all around. This is the key to living a fulfilling, creative, harmonious & heart-centred life. When we are grateful, we are present to it all. Like that beautiful deep inhale & exhale we naturally take in a moment of awe.

So yes, even that morning commute can be a transformational teacher on our evolutionary journey… but that’s up to us.
