FREE TECHNIQUES TO REDUCE STRESS IMMEDIATELY

This Is Your Life

There’s nothing like kids to make you realise how quickly time passes. They grow up so damn fast. I was reading a bedtime story with my youngest the other night and I began to think about how we never seem to know when the last time we’ll do something with them is. Whether it’s changing a nappy, having a bath with them, or reading a story at one stage it’s a part of our life and then suddenly it’s not. I wonder if we knew that this time would be the last time, if we would treat the experience any differently?

God knows, it’s easy for our minds to be drifting off to work, bills or social media when our kids are performing a dance for the hundredth time or telling us some random story about a kid from school that we don’t even know. The irony is, these moments we’re not paying attention to are the very same moments we’ll long for when we look back and realise they’re gone forever.

Same goes for life in general. If we keep racing from one moment to the next, trying to ‘arrive somewhere’, life has this remarkable ability to just pass us by. It’s important to stop from time to time, take a breath and realise this moment in front of you – It’s your life and it’s a miracle.
